Day 2: Rainy 4th of July

Today we went downtown to have a closer look at Chicago and its impressive architecture. We walked some of the streets and soaked up the atmosphere of the Windy City. We also went to the Millennium Park where we admired the "Cloud Gate" sculpture made out of stainless steel (a.k.a "the Bean") and listened to a free concert.
Unfortunately it was raining a bit, and it became even rainier when we went on an architectural boat cruise on the Chicago River. Nevertheless, the cruise was a great opportunity to admire the many magnificent buildings in Chicago, so we put on our 2$ ponchos and braved the rain for 90 minutes. After relaxing at Kellys place, we went back into town to celebrate Kellys birthday at a good restaurant. Fortunately it had stopped raining, so we got some great views of the skyscrapers in the evening sun. Happy Birthday Kelly!
